About

Local, fresh and seasonal

Nestled below the Howgills fells in quaint Sedbergh, our award-winning 16th century coaching inn makes for a memorable dining experience year-round. We take a thoughtful approach to food sourcing and work alongside local farmers and producers to source the best seasonal ingredients.

Our passion for quality and sustainability is shared by our whole team, including Head Chef Lee Madelin. With a generous helping of culinary credentials and training under some of the most respected names in the country, our chefs enjoy designing imaginative menus that celebrate our rural location.

The Dalesman Bar

The Dalesman is proud to be a freehouse and has a range of local cask ales from within 20 miles of our village from breweries such as Dark horse brewery, Cumbria legendary ales, Coniston, Barngates, Settle.

Our spirit collection is vast, with an array of gins from small artisan distillers including Heppel, Chase, Spirit of Garstang and twisted nose, likewise a hefty whiskey collection including Ancoc, Auchentoshan, Benriach, Macallan provence.

If you’re looking to get together with friends, The Dalesman Inn is one of the best places in the area to swap stories, drink in the atmosphere and savour some great drinks with some great characters. A great place to eat, drink and relax.

Home of Sedbergh Gin

Sedbergh’s own gin is our newest addition. We distill in small batches which gives us the traditional dry gin, sometimes lost by some larger people in the industry. Distilling in small batches allows us to take away and add flavours precisely.
